Call for Proposal Submissions, AAA 2012:

The Society for the Anthropology of North America (SANA) invites your submissions for the American Anthropological Association’s 2012 Annual Meeting, to be held in San Francisco, California, November 14-18. This year’s theme is “Border Crossings.” This theme fits well with SANA’s focus on the whole of North America, as well as its ongoing concern with the way in which “America” as an economic, political, and social entity has impacts across and beyond borders. SANA can contribute significantly to this year’s meeting through panels featuring innovative and relevant research, topics that cross sub-disciplines, and engagement with the meeting’s theme as it relates to the North American context.

The SANA programming co-chairs for the 2012 AAA Annual Meeting are Nathan Woods (woods.ndw@gmail.com) and Tina Lee (leetina@uwstout.edu). Please feel free to contact us regarding submission of your papers, posters, or roundtable sessions. SANA encourages formats and topics that foster dynamic discussion periods, as well as cooperative co-sponsorship with other sections.

As with last year, ALL paper/poster/ and roundtable sessions must be submitted through the AAA website.

SANA Invited Session Proposals:

The hard deadline is March 15, 2012 for online submission.

Invited Sessions proposals paper or poster sessions must be submitted through the AAA website and include a session abstract of up to 500 words and information for all participants (including individual abstracts) by March 15th. Co-sponsored sessions are a good way to encourage cooperative engagement with other sections, so please indicate on your proposal if there is another section that might be interested in co-sponsoring your proposed invited session.

Please contact Nathan or Tina before the deadline should you have questions about submitting a proposal. Decisions will be announced in early April.

SANA Sponsored Session Proposals:

The hard deadline is April 15, 2012 for online submission.

All sponsored session proposals must be submitted online by April 15, 2012. This includes all paper and poster sessions, roundtable proposals, and individual paper/poster submissions. Panel submissions must include a 500-word abstract as well as individual abstracts for each participant (as necessary).

Participants must abide by AAA rules regarding roles, registration, and fees. See FAQ page at the AAA meeting website.
